The National Indigenous Advisory Circle (NIAC) is a welcoming space for Indigenous girls, youth, and women to connect, share their voices and shape the future of Girl Guides of Canada. NIAC members guide the organization in identifying barriers faced by Indigenous members. They actively support in creating ways to remove those barriers to foster a more culturally-sensitive space where every member can thrive.

Here’s how NIAC makes an impact:

  • Connecting with Indigenous girls, women, and Two-Spirit people to discuss important matters in Guiding
  • Advising the Senior Leadership Team, Board, and high-level volunteers on best practices for including Indigenous communities at Girl Guides
  • Bringing knowledge of Indigenous ways to the forefront of the organization
  • Breaking barriers faced by Indigenous girls, youth, women, and Two-Spirit people in Guiding

How to join NIAC

NIAC is open to any Indigenous, First Nations, Métis, or Inuit youth or adult member of Girl Guides. To get involved, fill out the registration form or email inclusivity@girlguides.ca with “NIAC” in the subject line and a member of the DEIA team will follow up with you.
