The Guiding journey never ends! Did you know that you can enjoy more Guiding fun after you have completed the Ranger program? When you register as a Bridging Member, you can continue your Guiding adventures in a whole new way.
We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions to help you better understand what comes next after Rangers. If you have any additional questions about Guiding opportunities in British Columbia, please contact bc-membership@girlguides.ca.
A Bridging Member is a youth member who has completed the Ranger program, but not yet reached the age of majority in their province/territory (19 in British Columbia). Depending on your birthday, Bridging Members may be 17 or 18.
If you have finished Rangers but not yet 19, send the A5.P Registration form to screening@girlguides.ca, and let them know you would like to become a Bridging Member for the upcoming Guiding year. You can also phone 1-877-564-6188 for information.
Yes. The Bridging Member registration fee is the same as a girl member fee. However, many areas will pay this fee for you. Check with your Guider who will contact your area commissioner.
You can register as soon as the Guiding year ends or as soon as you finish your Ranger program. You can register in a specific unit, with a District, and/or with a Link unit.
In the month following your 19th birthday, you will be contacted (via the email associated with your iMIS profile) to complete a screening to become an adult member.
No. A Bridging Member is still considered a youth member and is therefore not required to have a police record check.
Absolutely! While you cannot be a Guider until you are 19, you are encouraged to register with a unit as part of the leader team.
Yes, Link Members are 18 to 30 years, so you are welcome to join and meet other young adults. For more information on joining a Link unit contact bc-link@girlguides.ca.

Starting in 2023, BC Bridging Members who complete their Bridging member year will receive the special BC Bridging Member pin. These pins will be mailed out to each June to members who turned 19 the previous September to June while registered in BC Girl Guides (finishing their Bridging year). These pins are mailed automatically and do not require any application. Those who receive the pin will have this entered into IMIS. Recipients must have an up-to-date registration in IMIS.
